Zhongjing uses the four words "Yang micro Yin string" to summarize the basic pathogenesis of chest arthralgia and heartache, "Yang micro" is the image of deficiency of upper Jiao Yang Qi and stagnation of chest Yang; "Yin string" is the sign of excessive Yin cold and stagnation of water. Chest pain is caused by deficiency of chest Yang and superior position of yin and evil. The reason for the deficiency of Yang in the upper Jiao is that yin and cold drink evil gather to form fruit. Therefore, all the syndromes of chest arthralgia can be treated by Warming Yang, promoting arthralgia, tonifying yang, removing phlegm from the broad diaphragm, or reducing adverse reactions and drinking. From the causes and the results, they can be focused on, coupled, and applied freely.

There is a short adjective "number" in the book of pulse by Wang Shuhe. The pulse of tight number can be understood as the string pulse. One can find evidence from other chapters of synopsis of the golden chamber. For example, section 20 of the chapter of fullness of the stomach states that "the number of tight pulse is the string, the shape is like the bow string, and it can not be moved". It means that if the tight number is consistent, it is the string pulse. The second one is consistent with the mechanism of pulse formation in the first section of "synopsis of the Golden Chamber · treatment of chest pain and shortness of Qi syndrome and pulse syndrome". "Close small tight number" is the concretion of "Yin string" pulse. Yin cold water Qi is superior to Yang position along the middle Jiao, so you can see that the closed pulse is small, urgent and restless.

Because this prescription belongs to the warm and hot medicine, in addition to the main syndrome of chest obstruction, it can also be seen that the complexion is pale, the limbs are cold, the pulse is sinking late or tight, and it really belongs to Yang deficiency and cold coagulation, it can be added with Guizhi, Ganjiang, asarum and other medicine to help the medicine, and if necessary, it can be combined with Sini Decoction to recover the Yang and save the adversity.
